Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD UPS - LCD Display 1500VA/900W AVR 8-Outlet RJ11/RJ45/Coax Tower USB Customer Reviews:
If U live in FLA----get one.
Ahhhh-Florida....the lightning capital of the world. If you don't have a UPS/power conditioner in this part of the country you may literally be playing with fire. There's not much to say about this UPS....or any other. The power goes out, your PC stays on. I have an ancient laptop, 2 PC's and a monitor hooked up to this unit (on the UPS side). The meter gives me 17 to 18 minutes of power. I haven't noticed any toxic odors as some reviewers have noted and the status meter is a HUGE plus over other brands. The only other question is---how long before the batteries are toast. We'll have to wait and see on that.

It works fine
About a week and a half ago a lightning storm blew my power out about 3 times in a half hour period. I work from home doing software development and having my development system blow away is not good. I decided I was long overdue for power backup so I could at least shut down gracefully. I did the usual look up of UPS reviews on line, decided on a unit, and went to Amazon to buy one. I read the Amazon reviews for the unit I wanted and decided against it. Instead I bought the Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD. It had more bang for the buck and only 4 out of scads of reviews were negative. One was about the industrial smell when it was unpacked and how it was sent back without even turning it on. I could live with industrial smell for a few days in exchange for peace of mind. I dropped the negatives to 3. (When I received the unit, the smell wasn't bad at all. The poor lady must have received her unit from a different Chinese factory than mine...) I ordered the unit and used the 5 - 7 day free shipping option. I received it on the 3rd day. I have hooked up my computer, the monitor, my wireless mouse, and a 2 terabyte backup USB drive to the UPS. Yesterday it paid off. Another lightning storm and my house was really slammed with short power outages. My system didn't even notice. I barely did. I did have WiFi drop, but I was busy writing code, so I didn't miss it. No worries about two hours of work in the bit bucket. No corrupted files. Since the outages were of short duration, I didn't even have to stop working. And the software estimated I had 43 minutes of power left when the power company came back to stay. It was great. I no longer flinch when I hear thunder in the distance. The Cyberpower sits next to my computer tower and quietly does its job. The hardware works as advertised. Another nice feature of the UPS is the software that accompanies the machine. I'm running Windows 7 Professional and the software works. It puts my system to sleep and wakes it up on schedule. It will turn off the machine if it's running off of the UPS and the batteries are about drained. It also displays the power utilization of the items plugged into it. I find that my computer, 23 inch monitor, mouse, and USB disk drive only use 100 watts of power. That's one light bulb. I no longer worry about power consumption while running disk compressions or other unattended tasks tasks over night. With the UPS, the computer will stay up and it doesn't really cost that much. (At pennies per kilowatt hour, 100 watts 24/7 isn't even noticeable on my electric bill. Now if I could only do something about Texas and air conditioning requirements...) I can't believe that I waited so long to buy a UPS. In three months I'll spend more on ink than I did on this machine. As far as I'm concerned, it paid for itself yesterday. I like it.

Dishonest Company!
This review is not specific to this model, but rather how the company deals with warranty issues. In short, they are not reputable. I purchased a BRAND NEW product from a dealer that also sells surplus, but it was new in the original factory box complete with warranty card. I didn't stop there though - I called the company, and a SUPERVISOR told me to keep it (I had the opportunity to return it for full refund at that time!!!), and it would be covered under factory warranty. Now, one of the units has had the batteries die and they are refusing to honor that warranty. This is even though I was told by a supervisor that a letter from the company would be sufficient in lieu of them having purchase record on file. In short - they had told me to get a letter for them, I did, they still dishonor the warranty. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM --- NOT ONLY DO THE PRODUCTS NOT HOLD UP, BUT THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR WORD, OR THE WARRANTY!!!!!!!!!!

Works as advertised, easy to monitor
The Cyberpower CP1500AVRLCD is very easy to set up. Just need to install the management software, plug the computer's power cord into the UPS box, and (optionally) connect the UPS box to the computer via USB cord. I had a power outage a short time after installing the UPS, and it worked perfectly. The management application is very handy in monitoring the status of the UPS, managing its configuration settings, and keeping track of blackout / brownout statistics. This is an excellent product, I am very happy with it.
