The Office, Season 2 - The Office

Genre: Comedy Price: $52.99 Release Date: September 20, 2005

Season 2 kicks off with The Dundies, Michael Scott's attempt at boosting office morale with an annual awards ceremony — which culminates with a hilarious karaoke competition. Throughout the year, the staff — Dwight, Pam, Jim, and temp Ryan — also deals with a sexual harassment seminar, an office fire, and office holiday traditions for Halloween and Christmas. No episode is complete without pompous commentary from boss-man Michael or completely inappropriate behavior from almost everyone in Dunder-Mifflin's Scranton branch. Basically, The Office is just like your life, only funnier.

Episodes:
Dundies: In the season premiere episode, the Dunder Mifflin employees suffer through the annual office awards ceremony, "The Dundies," hosted by pompous boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell) at their local watering hole -- a Chili's restaurant. Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak and Rainn Wilson also star.

Sexual Harassment: Steve Carell (the summer box office hit "The 40-Year-Old Virgin") continues in his hilarious role as politically incorrect office manager, Michael Scott, king of the inappropriate e-mail forward, who hits a new low when his obnoxious best friend, sales rep Todd Packer (guest star David Koechner, "Anchorman," "The 40-Year-Old Virgin"), drops by for a visit. Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak and Rainn Wilson also star.

Office Olympics: Michael (Steve Carell, "The 40-Year Old Virgin") has a panic attack when he tries to close the deal on his new condo. Meanwhile, while he and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) are away from the office, Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) organize an "office Olympics" where employees compete in ridiculous games. B. J. Novak also stars.

Fire: A fire in the kitchen forces the employees of the Dunder Mifflin paper company to the parking lot where Jim (John Krasinski) suggests a game of "Desert Island" - and they learn more about each another than they may have cared to. Meanwhile, Michael (Steve Carell) tries to impress Ryan (B.J. Novak) with his business savvy - inventing his own unique "10 Rules for Business" - while Dwight (Rainn Wilson) is threatened by Michael’s attention to Ryan. Jenna Fischer also stars.

Halloween: Michael (Steve Carell, "The 40-Year Old Virgin") is forced by corporate to fire someone, putting a damper on the Halloween festivities at Dunder-Mifflin. Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak also star.

Fight: After Dwight (Rainn Wilson) karate punches Michael (Steve Carell), Jim (John Krasinski) organizes a lunchtime rematch at Dwight's dojo where Pam (Jenna Fischer) becomes annoyed when Jim gets too friendly. B.J. Novak also stars.

Client: When Michael (Steve Carell, "The 40-Year Old Virgin") and Jan (Melora Hardin) go after a new client (guest star Tim Meadows, "SNL," "Mean Girls"), Michael surprises his boss -- in more ways than one. Meanwhile, Jim (John Krasinski) finds a screenplay written by Michael -- and the cubicle jockeys at Dunder-Mifflin have a hilarious time acting it out. Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak also star.

Performance Review: On performance review day, the employees of Dunder Mifflin meet with Michael (Steve Carell) to discuss their work performances - but the only thing on Michael's mind is his own impending review from his own boss Jan later that day. Meanwhile, dim Dwight (Rainn Wilson) thinks that Thursday is Friday and the rest of the gang works hard to keep him under that mistaken impression while Michael raids the employee suggestion box in search of new ideas for his showdown with Jan. Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski and B.J. Novak also star.

Email Surveillance: The employees at Dunder Mifflin are upset when Michael (Steve Carell) starts monitoring their emails. Pam (Jenna Fischer) suspects Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Angela (Angela Kinsey) are having an affair. Michael shows up uninvited at Jim's (John Krasinski) BBQ and sings karaoke. BJ Novak also stars.

Christmas Party: Morale at the office Christmas party hits an all-time low after Michael (Steve Carell) suggests a game of "Yankee Swap" with the $20 secret Santa gifts - and everyone vies for the iPod he bought for Ryan (B.J. Novak). In an effort to raise his staff's sagging spirits, Michael introduces vodka shots and things liven up while Jim (John Krasinski) worries that the sentimental gift he got for Pam (Jenna Fischer) will end up in Dwight's (Rainn Wilson) hands.

Booze Cruise: Michael (Golden Globe nominee Steve Carell) takes the Dunder Mifflin crew on a freezing "motivational" booze cruise in January in an attempt to get them to accept his theories on leadership. To his frustration, they find the ship's captain more inspiring, and Jim (John Krasinski) becomes motivated to speak his heart to Pam (Jenna Fischer). Rainn Wilson, B.J. Novak also star.

Injury: A Couple of Head Cases - Michael (Steve Carell) demands attention from the entire Dunder Mifflin office after he has a freak accident with his George Foreman grill, and Dwight (Rainn Wilson) begins behaving strangely following a minor car crash. Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski and B.J. Novak also star.

Secret: Jim (John Krasinski) is worried Michael (Golden Globe nominee Steve Carell) is going to tell others that he likes Pam (Jenna Fischer) so he has to unfortunately go along with being his best friend, which includes a lunch trip to Hooters. Rainn Wilson and B.J. Novak also star.

Carpet: It's Lonely At the Top - When someone soils the carpet in Michael's (Golden Globe nominee Steve Carell) office, Michael begins to question his popularity with his staff. He temporarily takes Jim's (John Krasinski) desk in the bullpen in order to bond with his troops - and initiates a sales contest to boost morale. Jim is forced to sit by chatterbox Kelly (Mindy Kaling), where he can't make any eye contact with Pam (Jenna Fischer). Rainn Wilson and B.J. Novak also star.

Boys and Girls: When Jan (Melora Hardin) visits the office to conduct a "women in the workplace" seminar with the female Dunder Mifflin employees, Michael (Golden Globe nominee Steve Carell) takes the guys down to the warehouse for some "male bonding." Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak and Rainn Wilson also star.

Valentine's Day: The Office Goes On Location to NYC -- When Michael (Golden Globe nominee Steve Carell) visits Dunder Mifflin corporate headquarters in New York on Valentine's Day, he and Jan (Melora Hardin) are both in for a surprise. Meanwhile, back in Scranton, the office staff celebrates Valentine's Day grade school style. Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak and Rainn Wilson also star.

Dwight's Speech: Dunder Mifflin salesman of the year Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) must somehow conquer his fear of public speaking for the big convention and turns for help to the worst possible teacher, Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell). As Pam (Jenna Fischer) becomes increasingly consumed with her wedding plans, Jim (John Krasinski) plans his escape from Scranton. B.J. Novak, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez and Phyllis Smith also star.

Take Your Daughter to Work Day: A routine office day is upended when children descend upon Dunder Mifflin for Take Your Daughter to Work Day. The Office, Season 2 - The Office iTunes Store customer reviews:

Smart Comedy Finally, primetime with smart and subtle humor. There's no laugh track and a lot of the show's funniest elements aren't obvious unless the viewer pays attention--a look on a character's face, or something sitting on a desk, or a background event--and the script is very smart. Rarely do the characters say anything that you wouldn't imagine a coworker of yours saying, and the writing doesn't assume the audience needs it to state the obvious, which is a breath of fresh air among sitcoms. Steve Carell does include those wacky elements, but often it's the others' reaction to his insanity that makes it hilarious. Great show! EXCELLENT COMEDY I've never seen a successful port of a British comedy to American TV, but this is even better than the British version. Mike (Steve Carrel) is hilarious, but Dwight is where a large percentage of the laughs come in. The first season followed the British series a little too much, and held itself back, but the second season is pure laughs. Rating: 5 (Pet Sounds, 2006-01-10) Product reviewed: The Office, Season 2 - The Office

The Best Show Ever! This collection of second season episodes is easily one of the funniest new shows on television. Steve Carell (Michael Scott) gives an amazing performance in each and every episode, each one filled with awkward silence humor in the vein of "A Mighty Wind", "Best In Show" and "This is Spinal Tap", the "mocumentary" style humor works well in every episode, with each role played to perfection. You'll love Dwight, Pam, Jim & all the other staff members, who play their parts with sometimes striking realism. Well written, and worth all of your time, each episode is sure to please. And make sure to buy the first season on DVD which comes complete with nearly an HOUR of deleted scenes. The show is broadcast on Thursday Nights now @ 9:30 directly after "My Name is Earl," and the previous night's episodes are available on Itunes every Wednesday usually in the afternoon. Bravo! Dwight, Kevin, and, of course, Michael are epically funny--my favorite line ever: "Check it out...I'm Terminator." Dwight; Office Olympics--but the comedy is complemented by the heartwrenching love saga of Jim and Pam. Will Jim ever transcend the "just a friend" barrier? Regardless, the balance of love, humour, and occasional genuine co-worker camaraderie in "The Office" results in a product greater than the sum of its parts. Bravo! Best. Show. Ever. I don't think I've come across a show in my entire life I've loved as much as The Office. The cast of unique and hilarious characters never fail to deliever the funniest lines I've ever heard. Every character begins to grow on you as the show progresses and soon enough, you feel as though you've known each one of them all your life. By not buying every single episode of this amazing show, you are robbing yourself of a great thing. Many a time I have been brough to tears of laugher by the ingenious and edgy humor of this show. Do yourself a favor and buy these episodes immediately, trust me, you won't be dissapointed. Rating: 5 (Dylan1077, 2006-01-12) Product reviewed: The Office, Season 2 - The Office

Mesmerizing This is the only TV show that you'll never get tired of watching. Definately the Best TV Show in iTunes. Rating: 5 (rocketsalas, 2006-01-10) Product reviewed: The Office, Season 2 - The Office

THE BEST! Pushes all limits! Never holds back! Edgy humor! This is what TV has been waiting for. I'm begging you - get all the episodes. The best investment you'll ever make! Rating: 5 (michaelinnyc, 2006-01-10) Product reviewed: The Office, Season 2 - The Office

TV's Greatest Show The Office is, quite simply, the most hilarious show to ever be shown on TV. Part of that is it's difference from other "funny shows" - like Family Guy. Family Guy's comedy comes from a. sex or b. sex or c. incredible violence. The Office's humor comes from the level of dysfuntionality of the characters. Not a single character on The Office is exactly normal. Some are closer (Jim Halpert) than others (Dwight Schrute or Michael Scott), but they still all have their own ways of being dysfunctional. You also have to pay attention to the show to get all of the humor; you have to think about what the poeple say and how they act in a scene. This, for some people, is too much to ask, which is what makes the Office a show with dedicated fans and dedicated haters, and not many in between. The Office, with it's own brand of hilarity, stands out from all other shows on TV, and is definitely worth watching.
