SAVE $12.46 - TurboTax Deluxe Federal + State 2009 + efile $47.49

Good product but... I have been using turbo tax for the past 8 years and have really appreaciated how easy this software makes filing your taxes. The 2009 version disappointed me a bit. In trying to use the state product included "for free" the software hung up and continued to ask for payment info for the "free" product. It took approximately 10 days of trying to get through to tech support (have to stay on the line for over an hour which is hard to do) to reslove this issue. Once I got someone live they were able to help me fix the problem, but this issue will give me pause next year. Doing taxes is frustrating enough with out the technical glitches...an no this was not a system issue, it was something broken in the software. Rating: 3 (Scott A. Misleading I used TurboTax Deluxe Federal + State 2009 + efile. I guess I assumed Federal and state free efile by the Title. Not the case, If i had know that they would charge me another 20.00 I would have done it online for much cheaper,they lost me as customer for next year. Rating: 3 (R. Only One State Return is a deal breaker for me I am spending WAY too much time with this one state return issue. I have prepared returns for my Father in Law, My joint return for my wife and returns for each of my children for over ten years with this software and have been a loyal customer. Now I have to buy three more state packages to do these returns? This is a HUGE price increase for me. This equates to about a 300% price increase. TurboTax Deluxe Federal + State 2009 + efileNot only is it a pain in the rear, but I am losing confidence that this is a product I want to rely on next year. I feel this was deceitful in that I had no idea they were doing this when I picked it up off the shelf. Seriously, I can do this by hand, or use a "free" product. I am now an UNHAPPY customer. Badly implemented, does not handle home credit correctly. Turbotax does not recognize my being eligible for the homebuyer credit in 2009 (despite the fact that I am eligible). I suspect this is a bug in the program, yet there seems to be no way for me to report the bug (apart from my paying another $30 to talk to a tax professional). Further, their online forum system is buggy to the point of being unusable -- and does not seem to even try to work for any browser other than windows explorer. I am very disappointed with this purchase, and wish I had gone with the tax program I used last year. Also, at least for the sites I tried, turbotax was not able to download tax data directly from the website as advertised. Apart from the above, things seem to have gone OK, and if I didn't have anything more complicated (like this homebuyer credit thing) I probably would have found the program acceptable. Save some time and just file online I had spent the last two days fighting with the desktop version of Turbo Tax. After many frustrated hours of messing with the stupid program, I gave up and filed with Turbo Tax Online. On Day 1 I tried to install it only to see that it would stall at 8% loading. I did some research and tried installing using Administrator mode. Doing this only led me to an error screen saying that .net 3.5 SP1 was damaged or missing. I went on to the Turbo Tax website and downloaded a utility that was supposed to fix this error. I ran the program, and after an hour and a half, I still got the same error. The website then tells you to run the utility in "advanced mode". I proceeded to run the utility and got an error saying there is nothing that it can do. Then I was instructed to download the log file and send it to Turbo Tax and maybe the can figure it out. I proceeded to take matters into my own hands and went to the Microsoft website. I downloaded the .net 3.5 SP1 application and proceeded to try and use that to remedy my problem...with no avail. I tried updating Windows itself. Still nothing has been fixed. I finally gave up for the night and went to bed. Day 2. I got up early determined not to lose my 50 dollars. I researched the Turbo Tax website. I was instructed that if everything I tried had failed, to use a last ditch method developed by some third party developer. I was desperate to get my moneys worth. I used the program and Turbo Tax started installing! But my jubilation was cut short when I tried to open Turbo Tax and was told that the program had encountered a fatal error and must shut down. Nobody had any answers for me, I gave up and filed using the online version. 116 dollars later, my taxes are filed. Rating: 1 (J.
