A great all round heart rate watch I looked into Garmin and Polar but they were way too expensive and too complicated for what I needed. I wanted a watch to help me track my progress in a my spin class, and the Shape is perfect. I've also jointed MIO's calorie counting club, and am on route to burn 3500 calories each week. Misrepresentation This was a very disapponting purchase. The watch is not a replacement,by any means, to the strap continuous heart rate monitoring technology, such as the one used by Polar. You don't wear a strap, but you get a reading only when you press your fingers on the watch top plate. You can't run or bike for two long when your hands are in that heart rate sensing position - one over the other... I wish a simple explanation like that would have been given as part of the technical explanation. Anyhow, we have used the watch only once or twice and reverted back to the strap sensor/watch. works exactly as advertised The MIO is a fine sport watch and nearly flawless heart rate monitor. As a cardiac patient, I take the heart rate seriously, and this thing is terrific. It quickly and accurately provides heart rate when you follow the simple instructions, without a chest strap, even while working out or running. I have only one complaint about the MIO. The typeface used on the display is unnecessarily difficult to read. It is a long, skinny typeface that makes reading difficult for people who wear reading glasses. If you wear readers, just be aware that you will not be able to read this display without your glasses. Period. But for the price, it performs well, looks good, and is obviously made with quality. A little disappointed I bought this watch because it had a lot of features that interested me and because it was on sale at a great price. The added features are nice to have, but I've been very disappointed with the actual heart rate monitor. The resting heart rate seems to be OK, but it is nearly impossible to get an accurate reading while exercising (even walking on the treadmill). Often it fails to register at all, and when it does it's all over the scale. I have to step off the treadmill and be completely still to get an accurate reading. On the positive side, it does have other nice features (recovery rate, splits, calorie counter, etc.), and it's not too big to fit on a small adult wrist. However, would not buy again. Rating: 3 (C.
