Great Game! I just got this game yesterday and my kids (ages 4 and 7) and I are really enjoying it. Unless you absolutely hate racing games, you will like Excitebots. The graphics are fairly good, the controls are very good, the music/sound is ok, some people really don't like the music but you can turn the volume down in options menu if you want. I really like all the different bots and color customization that is available. The mini games add extra fun. Like some others have said, the game has some random things in it like Warioware, but it's a lot of fun, especially for younger players. We have Mario Kart and my kids are quite good at it so learning the controls in this game was really easy for them. I kept reading about this game and it sounded good but I kept putting it off. Finally I watched a couple YouTube videos of it and I was sold after about 3 minutes. Game is currently selling for $15 or less new on Amazon, you really can't go wrong at that price. Better than MarioKart! This is as good as it gets for a racing Wii game. I enjoyed it more than MarioKart even. MarioKart is about just racing, but this game is about racing and accumulating points by accomplishing many diversified tricks during the race, from bowling pins, to darts, to poker, to field goals. It takes thinking! First place is decided by speed as well as point accumulation. Action packed features and great integration of many games, and extremely well done graphics. Fun, frenetic racing! What sets this game apart from other racing games is the fast pace and often chaotic changing track (i.e. going through water, then trying to knock down bowling pins to earn stars). Aside from placing, you earn stars via stunts, attacking your opponents, etc, thereby earning a higher ranking, unlocking tracks etc. The controls are very good, and I like having a turbo meter (meaning you have unlimited turbo unless you use it too long causing your vehicle to overheat) and if you crash, the recovery is fairly quick, meaning you don't wind up in last place. And this game really takes advantage of the Wii's motion controls, such as turning your controller to perform stunts, spins, etc. Overall, a very innovative and enjoyable game with high replay value. Crazy, Frenetic Fun! I first played this game when a friend brought it over to my place and after about four hours of playing, I had to purchase it for myself! The controls take some getting used to as you need to tilt the Wii remote to steer. This is not your traditional racing game - there are bowling, poker and pie-throwing games that are played WHILE YOU ARE RACING! It is not for the faint-of-heart or the new gamer in your life. Fun game for all ages We purchased this game for my 6 year old for his birthday. While he does really enjoy it, I think he is a little bit young yet. The controls seem to be a little more sensitive than other racing games. The great thing about it is that while the basic concept is similar to other race games-you use acquired weapons and try to smash up other vehicles (and win, of course!)- the concept of the robot/animal/insect as vehicles puts a really unique spin on it. Even though my son is still too young to grasp the more advanced features of the game, it is still one of his favorites.
