New Christmas music
I love Christmas music but sometimes the radio plays the same songs repeatedly. I had never heard any of these songs before and had fun hearing more Christmas, and two New Year's, songs. I was excited to introduce these songs to other people. If I have a Christmas or New Years party, I will add some of these songs to the mix. Great stuff
Maybe you shouldn't make this your one and only Christmas soul album--that's what James Brown and the Stax/Atlantic collections are for--but if you collect this kind of material, these are awesome finds. Groovy and REFRESHING
This album quickly became my favorite of 2009 and will surely get lots of play in years to come. From the opening guitar riff to the last funky fade, it never disappointed my desire to hear honest, soulful, rootsy tunes with a Christmas vibe. Soulful? More than ANYTHING you'll find on the new releases rack. Danceable? Hell yeah! Try to sit still through track 2 Highlights for me include... Seriously? Every track. If I could give it a 6 out of 5, I would. The person who rated this record a 1 seems to not have listened. They complain simply about the marketing and price. Give me a break.
