Logitech Harmony 670 Universal Remote customer reviews:
Logitech Harmony 670 Universal Remote
This is the second one purchased. The first one was part of a sound system package. It worked great even after being dropped after about the tenth time, but the display no longer displayed anything and since no one else memorized the options to reset the various equipment after power interruptions without using the display, it was time to replace it. Very easy to set up for use with the myriad of video and sound devices because it comes with a pictured, numbered installation guide that explains what information you'll need to gather BEFORE starting to program the remote. Hook it up to your computer with a USB cable and insert the CD software which completes the programming based on the information you provide, and then tells you to go see if everything works and report back before you finish up. Comes with 90 day support, takes four AAA batteries. Nice size, easy and comfortable to hold if you can get it out of the grip of the "Remote King" which is a usless exercise if 'COPS' is on, and has a glow button which lights up in cool blue. Great universal remote, but take care of it
I absolutely loved this remote. I got it a few years ago and used it all the time! It could even control my xbox 360 to a certain degree. The software that comes with it is super easy to use, and if you spend the time, you can have a fully custimized remote. Be warned though, the view screen can take only so much punishment. I dropped mine on the tile floor all the time, and the screen cracked, rendering it useless in my opinion. I use it for my stereo's volume now, but not much else. Take care of it, and it will serve you very well. I will probably end up buying another one of these. Rating: (MacGruber, 2010-02-07) Product reviewed: Logitech Harmony 670 Universal Remote
Awesome - My no longers calls for help!
We had a fully programable remote, the Home Theater Master. And it was good (for me). But my wife called me at work 2 or 3 times each month to trouble shoot why she did nt have a picture, sound etc. and I walk her though what component should be on, what mode, what input etc. and solve the problem. After getting the 670, NO MORE PHONE CALLS! I wish there were a few more buttons and another circle of buttons but I'm nit-picking. Rating: (Glenn A. For those with good eyesight!
I have finally reached the age where I need glasses for reading small things especially in the dark. The buttons on the remote are small, rounded and shiny with small print so in daylight you get all kinds of reflections that make it hard to read without good glasses. There is a backlight feature that is not very powerful and really does not help so it is even worse in the dark. So every time I use the remote I need glasses until I finally memorize the button locations. Don't count on the sizing of the buttons to help you either as there is no logic to it. My husband bought this remote to simplify our complex system since he knows I have no time or patience for messing with remotes, and it works well once you push the correct buttons (he is a geek so he did not have problems with the set-up) but if I have to scrabble for glasses to change the channel while I am cooking and watching the news, it really does not help much. My advice - buy this remote only if you have really good vision and have the patience to program it correctly. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR AGING PARENTS or anyone without great vision for reading! Harmony 670
Very laborious downloading proceedure for audio/visual codes. Unit was clumsy to operate, by the time you located the correct buttons to activate the desired functions the television or dvd player had reverted to sleep mode wiping out all your efforts and necessitating starting over. Screen was difficult to see and/or read- too dark, not enough backlighting or contrast. I had better and easier luck with a $10.00 panasonic remote than this expensive monster. I returned the unit.
