The compact PV-GS9, Digital Palmcorder MultiCam Camcorder was designed to simplify camcorder operation for the video novice and professional videographer alike, and includes: high-definition optical zoom and digital zoom capabilities; ease of operation through newly designed layout and controls; a new Direct Mode Dial: for use in the digital still camera mode, this easy-access dial control lets users quickly select the desired digital camera mode, such as Record, Playback, Card Record or Card Playback; an LCD screen that can be opened a full 120 degrees away from the camcorder's body, making it easier to view motion images as they're being captured.This model is a video camera first and foremost, and is well appointed with features to produce sharp digital recordings. For example, the image-enhancing MagicPix feature allows for rich videos under low-light conditions. Digital Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) helps take the jitter out of hand-held video recording and compensate for unintentional hand and camcorder movement.This camcorder also includes a Quick Start feature, which lets it begin taping in 1.3 seconds after turning the power on so those unexpected moments wont be missed.

I love this Camcorder. It is lightweight and easy to use. It has good clear pictures and sound. It even picks up birds sounds from the background. It is also easy to hook up to your TV so you can view what pictures you have taken and even make copies on a VHS/DVD player so you can share your trip or event with others as gifts. We take it on every vacation and relive each trip and it helps us remember just what really happend on our trips and we don't have to rely just on our memories. No software or cable to transfer to PC
beware of the low price, panasonic has managed to make the price so low ($350) because they don't give you any software for the computer (to transfer or to edit), and no cables for the computer. I can't believe they would neglet to put them in the box. Your better of with PVGS 15 as it comes with the software and a USB cable, the price is $500, but the software, cable, and still picture on sd make up the $150 price difference. Rating: (J. I like this camera!
Well, I just read other reviews and I was surprised! First of all, I had a USB cable that fit the camera and plugged into my computer, so I didn't have that issue. I'm sure I would've been frustrated as well if I had to go purchase one. Personally, I was able to edit and create movies on my computer with no problem, using the free software that came with my computer (Sony VAIO, 3 years old). So I guess maybe I was lucky, but I have had a very good experience with this camera. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the picture quality on my movies isn't the greatest. This camera is a little outdated though, so I can't complain. Plus, for the price, it has been outstanding. PC connection issue rears it's ugly head
I've had this camera for 2 years now and for the price it has done alright. Recently though, just as someone had mentioned in an earlier review, it stopped connecting to my PC via the firewire. I plugged in a friends JVC and it worked fine, so I know it's not the computer or the cable. Its past warranty obviously... I don't think I'll pay to have it fixed.
