Iron Core Warrior is a two volume Kettlebell fitness system created by RKC and founder of Iron Core, Sarah Lurie. Lurie's no nonsense personality shines through as she puts you through two of the toughest kettlebell workouts she has ever created. Volume 1 is a 30-minute single kettlebell timed workout and Volume 2 is a 30-minute two- kettlebell timed workout. Both will challenge you not to put the kettlebell down until you have completed an entire 4-minute set of five brutal exercises. Each DVD includes an ab circuit and optional rest break exercises to complete the program. Iron Core Warrior is for intermediate to advanced students who have mastered the basics and are able to use a challenging size kettlebell. Women should use 8kg or 12 kg kettlebells and men should use 12kg or 16kg kettlebells. This DVD assumes you know the kettlebell basics from Kettlebells The Iron Core Way, Volume 1 and Volume 2 and does not include an instructional section or a warm up. WTG Sarah and Iron Core!
Nothing to add to the breakdown, but wow. I am glad to see Sarah coming out with more DVDs that are thorough and challenging to those who are unable to train regularly with a certified instructor. I can't wait for the book! I also am glad that she has encouraged her instructors to all branch out and do their own DVDs with Iron Core behind them, variety is after all the spice of life. Will whip you into shape ASAP
I did kettlebells consistently for about a year starting with a 10lb kb and Iron Core 1, moved to a 15lb kb with Iron Core 1 and 2, and then a 20lb kb with Iron Core 2. Then I suddenly stopped because I moved around a lot. I have been anticipating a new Sarah Lurie DVD for the longest time and wondered when she'd release one. I absolutely LOVE the Iron Core series. They're the only exercises that I've ever done consistently. I don't get tired from them, but I sweat, and I look forward to doing them every day. I've never looked forward to exercising in my life before Iron Core. Imagine my surprise when I saw that Iron Core Warrior was coming. I pre-ordered it and waited at my mailbox every day like a puppy waiting for her master to return! When it arrived on my birthday I jumped into it immediately. I was so out of shape because of my kettlebell sabbatical that I couldn't even get through the first circuit! I huffed and puffed and decided I might need to lower my kb weight, but immediately knew that this was the DVD that was going to whip me back into shape. And it has. It's still very difficult one month in, but the benefits outweigh anything else. I love it and will continue to do it because it's a challenge. In a word, Amazing. But I expect nothing less from Sarah and the Iron Core team. I'm probably their biggest fan. Iron Core has even prompted me to begin certifying for the RKC so that I may teach kettlebells to others! Excellent, challenging kettlebell workout
My husband and I have all of Sarah's DVDs and enjoy her workouts. We were lucky to get to train with Sarah while visiting San Diego a few years ago. I think the new Iron Core Warrior workouts are much more challenging than her previous workouts and we welcome that challenge. Of course, I would also recommend starting with her previous DVDs and then working up to these. There is not much guesswork as she tells you what weight kettlebells women as well as men should use and also included is a schedule showing you how to space your workouts depending on whether you want to fit kettlebells in twice, three or four times weekly. I really appreciate that. I look forward to mastering these workouts. Keep up the good work, Sarah! Rating: (C. Most Intense of the Iron Cores!
First let me say I have all of Sarah Lurie's Iron Cores, volumes 1, 2 and 20 minute Express dvds. They are all a great value and pack a punch. Sarah's newest Iron Core dvd, Iron Core Warrior, is no different and doesn't disappoint. The biggest difference in this workout is the format. You do not put the kettlebell/kettlebells down for 4 minutes and you will perform 4 or 5 exercises in a row. This is a two-disc set and the first disc uses one kettlebell. The exercises performed are alternating swing, alternating jumping lunge with overheard press, side lunge, high pull, and snatch. Each exercise is performed for one minute with no rest in between. This format really gets your heart rate high. You will perform 4 sets with 60 second rests in between. You can also do optional jump squats as Sarah recommends during the rest if you choose. If you aren't winded enough and can do the ab circuit, then you will do 4 sets of 2 exercises(russian twist/hot potato) with a 30 second rest between sets. Disc 2 uses 2 kettlebells and once again you will not put the kettlebells down for 4 minutes, performing 4 sets. Exercises performed are 2 kettlebell windmill, renegade rows, clean and push press, clean and squat combo, suitcase deadlifts, and double snatches. There is a 60 second rest in between sets again and jump rope is the optional exercise Sarah suggests to use if you don't want to rest. You will finish with a 4 minute ab circuit that includes russian twist and a plank hold. You will not rest during this ab circuit as the exercises are alternated for 4 minutes. The cons: The circuits on both dvds repeat the same set of exercises for each circuit. That can be a little repetitious. Also some may not like the fact that there are no warm ups or cool downs. I personally don't mind as I often get right into it and just use common sense by not lifting heavy off the bat. The music is non-descript and didn't really affect me one way or another. The pros: Definitely more intense than Sarah's previous Iron Cores, if you love circuits like I do, you will love this format! If you're looking to increase your endurance and cardiovascular strength, Iron Core Warrior will do that! Rating: (Eileen M.
