The base is made of high quality stainless steel with a Euro design, sleek lines and a matte finish, while the top is clear glass with a measuring scale up the side. Measure your ingredients into the top, then the two pieces fit together snugly, forming a suction type seal while you shake it up, then serve. Our open stock Loft strainer is available to couple with this shaker.
Professional bartenders can put on quite a show with a two-part cocktail shaker, and now the home barkeep can too. WMF worked with leading German design firm Fiedeler & Raasch to create this Boston shaker for the Loft collection. The larger base unit is made of brushed 18/10 stainless steel, while the slightly smaller half is made of thick, durable glass and stores inside the metal half. Calibrations on the glass are in both metric and imperial. After ice, juice, and spirits are mixed, the shaker’s two halves fit together and stay together by suction during shaking. A little twisting and pulling and the two halves come apart for pouring. The stainless-steel Loft strainer (available separately) comes into play at this point. When the party’s over, the Boston shaker goes right into the dishwasher. --Ann Bieri

Received with defective glass - twice!
When a manufacturer asks more than $60 for a two-piece drink container composed of metal and glass (with Amazon selling it for almost $50), you expect quality control to not be asleep at the wheel. The first time I received this product it had tiny chips at the bottom of the glass tumbler. Then the replacement had a 1/2" break on one side of the glass near the bottom. Maybe the third time will be the charm -- but if this is what's churning out of WMF's factories in China, it doesn't bode well for its reputation. The best style of shaker.
I love cocktails, but I hate leaky cocktail shakers. I have many shakers some new, some antique. Most leak when shaken. Before buying this shaker the only ones that did not leak were made entirely, or partially of plastic. Over time plastic will absorb odor that you can't scrub away. Nice and Easy
When I compared WMF's "Manhattan" and "Loft" lines of Boston style shakers, Amazon showed that the Loft was out of stock for a month. However, I checked back and saw that it became available before I even received the Manhattan, so I ordered the loft as well. I'm glad I did. The glass section is the identical shape, with the only difference being the markings. The S.S. section is very similar, with the only difference in the curved shape of the Loft style. While I prefer the Loft style aesthetically, the curve also helps hold the glass section a bit tighter when stored inside the S.S. section. I also found that my pint glasses will work as backups, if I ever break the supplied glass. I ordered the Boston Style with a little hesitation, as I've seen numerous reviews stating the difficulty for novices to obtain an adequate seal. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have any problems. The Loft strainer is also very nice and matches and fits perfectly with both shakers. Rating: (T. S. Speeds Up the Process
This style of shaker takes a little practice to get use to, but once you do it speeds up the mixing process. The most you can do at one time is two drinks unless you cut the ice down to a few cubes.
