Just OK.
I recently upgraded to the 880 model. I miss the 670 model which is very sturdy. The buttons are easier to use and glow in the dark unlike the 880 model which seems very cheap and only the screen glows in the dark. The layout of the buttons of the 880 is badly done. The previous (recall) button which to me is one of the most frequently used buttons on a remote is located at a very obscure position and you will need a magnifying lens (no pawn intended)to read the print on the button. So also is the location of the mute button. The 880 model looks very cheap and delicate. It is far from looking sleek which I think was the intention of the designers. The 670 is well designed for everyday hard use. I have dropped the 670 several times and find it very sturdy. My main complaint with the 670 model is that it does not have a re-chargeable base while the 880 model has. Some reviewers have had problems with the rechargeable cradle. I have been fortunate to have one that the remote sits comfortable on.When I place the remote on the rechargeable cradle, I always make sure to see the battery re-charging icon on the display screen before I walk away and I have never had problems.I always have the battery indicator on the remote showing full charge each day after several hours of TV watching with the remote off the cradle. I enjoy this bit and it is the very reason I bought the 880 model, so I do not have to change batteries every 12 or so weeks. I find the 880 model response time faster than the 670 model, maybe the 670 is slower because of use. Both models have a wide field of IR range. I do not have to aim both remotes directly to my appliances' IR eye, to get them to work. Which is great! My Samsung TV remote has to be pointed directly to the TV's IR eye for the TV to pick up the remote signal. The buttons of the 670 model has the number embossed unlike the 880 model. The numbers on the 880 models are cheap ink prints that will fade off with time. The letters and numbers on the 880 model are smaller in size than the 670 model.I always have to take my time looking at the prints on the 880 model. I wish the 670 model has a re-chargeable base and I have recommended to Logitech Harmony on their website to revisit the 670 model and make a rechargeable cradle for it.The design of the 670 model is almost flawless to me.If you do not mind buying new batteries every 12 to 16 weeks, I will strongly recommend the 670 model over the 880 model. But if changing batteries will be irritating to you as it was for me then go for the 880 or any other model with a re-chargeable base.I went for the 880 model because of the favorable reviews on it and cost.To be fair to the 670 model it does warn you when the batteries are weak but for me that happens rather too frequently. Both models have easy set-up and do a good job controlling all dedicated appliances-cable box,TV,Oppo Blu-ray player,Phillips 6 piece HTIB and the xbox 360. So far so good
I haven't had the problems describe by other reviewers, but I have only owned this product for about a month. I might have to edit this review if things change. This is my first all-in-1 remote, so I don't really have anything to compare to. But so far, I love the convinience of just having to press just one button to turn my tv, PS3 & reciever on. I thought about the Harmony One, because of the touch screen, But did not want to spend the extra $50.00. All in all I'm pretty happy with it. Rating: (H. Have AV equipment with no manual or remote, This remote is your new best friend
This remote has saved me millions, not really, but in stress probably. I buy many audio components off of eBay. Many of the best deals do not have manuals or remotes. This Single remote has saved my life, in some respects. All be it any Harmony remote could do the trick. I've owned this remote for a couple of years now. The initial setup takes a little bit of time, but its a fairly easy walk-through. The features you get to use on this remote, leaves other universal remotes in the dust. I recently bought a New LCD Toshiba and a Yamaha 7.1 channel receiver I bought off of eBay. To swap out my old Samsung TV and my old Pioneer receiver took less than 10 minutes. I was even able to have more features on my Harmony remote than the factory OEM remotes for either of the other two. This remote even controls My Media Center PC, everything from movies and music to DVDs even iTunes and some feature of the internet. Support for this remote is also easy to find and updates for new equipment is often. The only feature I wish this remote had, which are available in the more expensive, Harmony 890, 900, and 1100 models is the RF feature that could control the fireplace, ceiling fan, lights, and shades. In my opinion I will probably never use another brand of remote for the foreseeable future. I was going to say for the rest of my life, but the amount of technology that has changed over the past ten years, it's hard to say what will be available 20 years from now. It might all be wetware(mind controlled). I purchased my Harmony Remote from Woot! For $69.99 Rating: (Benjamin, 2010-03-01) Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote Control customer review
Remote failed after 28 months
I purchased the 880 from Amazon in November of 2007. For the past few months, I've had to angle the remote in the charging cradle for it to charge, but now it won't charge at all. Customer Service will offer me a 50% off coupon for a new remote, but these things aren't cheap and I had expected a much longer lifespan of the product. I love how easy it is to program and use, but I don't know if I want another one. Rating: (quiltnsoap, 2010-03-01) Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote Control customer review
It's a BEAST!!!!!
I have been looking for a universal remote that can do it all and I think I have found it. I just recieved it and I love this thing; it controls every device that I have (Pioneer 01 Elite reciever, Pioneer 51FD Blure-ray player,Toshiba HD player,Direct TV HD reciever and a Mitshubishi 65" HDTV). You can turn things on with one button and it controls the functions from those devices remotes. I found mine used for $55+$5 shipping; this is the lowest that I have seen one for so I jumped at the chance to get it. It arrived in great condition (great seller: Printing 09) and it came very quickly. It's easy to set up, every thing is done on the Logitech web site and I also purchased two batteries and a charger because mine didn't come with a battery. I found the charger+2 logitech batteries for $24+$1.50 shipping, all worked great. Over all I am very pleases with my Logitech 880 remote. If you can find one at a nice price get it.
