At a time when animal species are becoming extinct on every continent and we are confronted with bad news about the environment nearly every day, Jane Goodall, one of the world's most renowned scientists, brings us inspiring news about the future of the animal kingdom. With the insatiable curiosity and conversational prose that have made her a bestselling author, Goodall-along with Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard-shares fascinating survival stories about the American Crocodile, the California Condor, the Black-Footed Ferret, and more; all formerly endangered species and species once on the verge of extinction whose populations are now being regenerated.Interweaving her own first-hand experiences in the field with the compelling research of premier scientists, Goodall illuminates the heroic efforts of dedicated environmentalists and the truly critical need to protect the habitats of these beloved species. At once a celebration of the animal kingdom and a passionate call to arms, HOPE FOR ANIMALS THEIR WORLD presents an uplifting, hopeful message for the future of animal-human coexistence.

Hope for Animals and Their World: How Endangered Species Are Being Rescued from the Brink customer reviews:
Hope for the future of our planet
Renowned scientist Jane Goodall brings good news to listeners. She and Thane Maynard, Gail Hudson shares the stories of heroes of the animal world, people who have contributed to the revival of endangered species. The book is divided into three sections. The authors share the recovery of six mammal and bird species that became vanished in the wild but are being reintroduced to their natural environment, the heroic labors to bring species back from near extermination, and the efforts to protect animals whose food supply is disappearing. I enjoyed this audio book. It offers hope for the future of our planet. Losing a species is devastating to our planet. My one criticism was the repeated urging to go to Goodall's website. Once or twice would have been enough. Rating: (Readers Favorite, 2009-12-10) Product reviewed: Hope for Animals and Their World: How Endangered Species Are Being Rescued from the Brink
Inspiring
I am very passionate about environmental protection and conservation, and this book was both inspiring and educational. I have nothing but admiration for all these scientists who recognized the need to save certain species and tiredly acted to pull them back from the brink of extinction. These people were already on task as early as 1970s, way before the environmental issues were highlighted in the media. The book also gives us hope that not all is lost and little changes by us individuals can and do make a difference in the world.
