Fantastic product, easy to use, want another for downstairs now. I love this internet radio, it's easy to set up and use. I'd like one for down stairs now, but everyone is out of stock. Rating: 5 (C. Baske, 2010-02-06) Product reviewed: Sanyo R227 WiFi Internet Radio (Black)

Sanyo R227 Wi-Fi Internet Radio This is a great internet radio and easy to set up via the [...] website. Only negative is the brightness of the display in the inactive state (not adjustable). Too bright for dark bedroom. Sanyo's support is almost non-existent. This radio may be somewhat difficult to find. Has headphone jack on front and aux out on the back, where you want them to be. Few radios these days have an aux out jack. Also has aux input jack and you can set the volume level of the aux input from the radio. Photo a bit deceiving. This stereo radio has the speakers on the sides of the cabinet. Remote control buttons not set up logically, but you get used to it. For the price, I'm very happy with it. As with all wi-fi radios, you may have to adjust the signal strength put out from your router. If you have DSL, the phone company will do this for you as they control the signal strength. Phone company support was excellent. Also has FM tuner, but less than desirable FM pigtail antenna, which will work quite well in a non-rural area. Wish the radio had an RF FM Antenna jack. The Internet section of the radio has no exposed antenna which is a plus for placement. If you can't find a decent station to listen to on a standard FM radio, this is the radio for you. Hundreds and hundreds of Internet radio stations to listen to. Wish radio had more than 8 presets, but once you load your favorite stations into the radio, they are easy to access via the "My Stations" protocol, via the radio or the remote. DXing from the radio somewhat difficult, but extremely easy via the website. You can program your favorite stations into the radio via the website. This is my favorite radio and I own several radios. Great product! Its not really easy to figure out but once I did it worked really well. I plugged in the data connection and got no response so thats how new products can be sometimes. I got for my dad as gift for Christmas and he said he liked it so I hope he uses it. Its all commercial free music and its anything that you can think of. You can also listen to news, sports etc so its definitely an asset to have. Rating: 4 (R. Bozzuto, 2010-02-05) Product reviewed: Sanyo R227 WiFi Internet Radio (Black)

Reciva and Gremlins I want to thank everybody who took the time to write an opinion about this product. Reading them all is more than enough to make an informed decision whether this is the internet radio for you. I do not intend to repeat them - apologies if inadvertently I do so - just to bring some points. First I do like the fact that you can connect the unit through a WPA secured Wi-Fi meaning that you do not have to give up you network security just to connect this radio. One should note that the structure of the networks requires some protocol validation which generates some lag in connection. That delay varies depending on particularity of a certain network; also occasionally a connection can become "stale" and need be renewed. So the complains about time delay are pertaining more to the network than to the unit. I like to listen to shows like Marketplace and Car Talk. You can get those stations on the receiver but after listening once I realized that they DO NOT REFRESH. In other words Marketplace is the same Marketplace that was broadcasted sometime in October and ditto for Car Talk. I wanted to isolate the cause and I wanted to see how [...] works. Even to setup your computer to listen to reciva is superfluous requiring installing a RTSP file reader such as Real Player (I am using 64-bit Window 7 Ultimate). Conclusion: the quirk is with reciva: they are the stale link. Of course, you can download the podcast on a folder on your computer, share the folder and listen. But then that would erase the demarcation line between a computer and an internet radio. Another funny quirk - it could be only with my unit - is that occasionally starts by itself (Gremlins!). I checked if I did not have accidentally set up the alarms time, I upgraded to the latest firmware but the Gremlins are still there. It does not bother me, it's kind of finny: I am making bets with my wife whether in the morning will find the radio on or off (The unit starts by default at half volume and we don't have it in the bedroom). Normally, you start a critique with the good points and then switch to "however". I did the reverse because I want to conclude that in spite of minor flaws this unit puts the entire world in front of your ears, not a small feast when you want to take refuge from the Fox News. Bad Remote Control The radio was easy to set up and worked perfectly out of the box. There are a limited number of presets, but when you register the radio at RECIVA you may choose additional favorite radio stations and they appear in a "My Stuff" category on the menu. The volume is adequate for a small room and the tone is awesome. Two complaints: 1) The dial is too bright for use in a bedroom when using the sleep function; 2) the remote control had some buttons that stopped working within a few weeks of delivery. Unfortunately, Sanyo doesn't stock separate remote controls and you have to send the entire unit back to them for replacement Rating: 5 (H.
